Error 98

Error #98 is a generic Windows error in which Windows was asked to do something and it failed. In almost all situations it is a printer error, in which an improper or inoperable printer was selected.

Go to the same report, edit list or posting journal which the error #98 was received.

When a report, edit list or posting journal is printed, the printer screen comes up.

The left side of the printer screen, field #1 is the printer selected. When the printer screen comes up your cursor will be at the bottom of the screen, at the prompt “Any Change?” Type in 1, to go to field #1 Printer:

Press the TAB key to get a list of the printers that can be used. Select the correct printer with a Y (for Yes this is the correct printer). See the document Printer Screen Information for additional printer screen information.
Make all of the report selections, (i.e. starting & ending date, starting & ending division, etc…)

If NOT printing a report, edit list or posting journal; If printing a document:

When the printer screen doesn’t come up; the printer assignment table will need to be checked and corrected.

First find your terminal #. Go to the main menu, module list. Look at the upper right hand corner, at the Date and Time and Term: #. Jot down your terminal #.
Second find the name of the printer needed for the printer assignment table.
- Go to any report or edit list where the printer table comes up & go to field 1 Printer: & press the TAB key to get the list of printers. Find the 6 character Profits Plus name of the printer. Some examples are: PRINT1, PRINT2, PRINT3, EM-STM, EM-INV, etc…. You need the 6 character name of the printer.

The Accounts Payable (Module 3) printer assignment tables are in:
- System management functions (Task 32)
  - Modify application tables (Sub-task 17)
    - Printer assignments (2)
The Order Processing (Module 6) printer assignment tables are in:
- System management functions (Task 32)
  - Modify application tables (Sub-task 17)
    - Order entry printer assignments (2)
    - Holding file printer assignment (3)
The Purchase Order (Module 7) Printer assignment tables are in:
- System management functions (Task 32)
  - Modify application tables (Sub-task 17)

The Job Tracking Printer assignment tables are in (Module 6):

Follow notations and format of the selected table to make the desired changes. If in word pad follow word pad rules to make and save changes.

EXAMPLE:

After making changes to the printer assignment table, go back to the document being printed. Print the document again to assure the error 98 doesn’t still appear.
