Form Alignment

The first step, and most common problem, in aligning a form on a particular printer is getting the top margin correct.

All forms should be aligned at the tear-off. The difference in the distance from the tear-off to the print portion between various make & model printers is accounted for in the Profits Plus System Printer Definition Table.

  • Software Maintenance (Module 9)
    • System Management Functions (Task 32)
      • Modify Application Tables (Sub-task 17)
        • System Printer Definition Table

Once set, you should never have to `remember' or `figure out' where to align a form on a printer.

If there is a problem with aligning a form at the top, then please provide us very specific answers to the following:

- What is the printer configuration (give printout of setups directly from the printer front panel)? Most important setting to check is `Form tear-off'. It should be `on' or `500ms', not `off'.

- Which printer are the checks being run on (system name or printer #)?

- What is the make & model of the printer?

- How are you lining up the check form in the printer?

If there are alignment problems other than the top margin, then run a sample on an actual form and make notations of specific problem areas. PLEASE don't assume that we will notice any particular problem on a sample. Provide a sample to us via e-mail or fax: 248 583-4110.

If the form(s) in question were aligning and `stopped', give as much specific detail as possible about what changed and when, fax the information to us at 248 583-4110.

If a printer was replaced, repaired, reprogrammed, etc. recently, please tell us. This information can save everyone a lot of time and unnecessary work.
