Price Based on 1/2 Size Reduction

This is used so the square foot amounts will automatically calculate as DOUBLE the actual square footage.  This effectively gives half sizes 1/2 the square foot of the normal size instead of the 1/4 the actual dimensions of the half-size print would yield.

VERIFY:

Verify the dimensional types to accomplish the half-size pricing are available.  Go to:

  • Inventory Control (Module 5)
    • Item Master (Task  17)
      • Change Existing Item Record (Sub-task 2)

Type in the item number and proceed to: Field 26 -  Dimensional?

The dimensional type table displays on the screen.  Look for the lower case dimensional types (see below for example).  All of the lower case selections, d, f, e, z, t, and y are for half size reduction pricing. For example, the lower case ‘d’ acts the same as the upper case D dimensional type, except it uses the ½ price parameters.  All the lower case selections in the table act the same as the upper case, except they use the ½ price parameters.

d -        1/2 Sets/Orig/Wdth/Ht

f -         1/2 Sets/Orig/Size

e -        1/2 Print sz$, PP dsc

z -        1/2 Print sz$, TSdsc

t -         1/2 Plot(SOWH),X dsc

y -        1/2 Copy disc (SOWH)

For example, if it is desired to enter the Sets, Originals, Width & Height when selling an item in Order Entry, select type “d” ½ Sets/Org/Wdth/Ht.

Note: If the UPPER case D, F, E, Z, T, Y dimensional types are placed on an item master, the half size pricing won’t work  For further explanation of the dimensional types go to the website www.mvsoftware.com, INVENTORY CONTROL section, Dimensional Types.

BEFORE USING:

There are a few parameters that need to be set before using ½ size reduction pricing, go to:

·        Order Processing (Module 6)

o       System Management Functions (Task 32)

§         Modify Parameter File (Sub-task 22)

·        O/E – General (Option 1)

Look for the following parameters:

DIM'HSIZE'FACTOR=
DIM'HSIZE'1522=

DIM’HSIZE’FACTOR=.5    If you want to enter the original size of the item in Order Entry and want the square footage to be ½ of the calculated amount, then this parameter is a: .5

DIM'HSIZE'FACTOR=2  If you want to enter the actual dimensions of the item in Order Entry and want the reduction square footage to be double the calculated amount, then this parameter is a: 2

EXAMPLE:

Original item size 36x48

36x48=1728/144=12sq.ft.

Enter in Order Entry as 36x48, = 12sq.ft. x .5 = 6sq.ft.

The same size item 36x48=12sq.ft.

Enter in Order Entry as18x24 = 432/144=3sq.ft. x 2 = 6sq.ft.

Both ways the customer is being charged for 6sq.ft.

DIM'HSIZE'1522=4.5   There may be an exception to the Original size of 30x42.  The half size being 15x21.  But the paper width used for this is 22 inches wide.  So many reprographic companies want the half size to be4.5 sq.ft.   This parameter looks for any combination in the width & height TO BE 15, 21 & 22, and it will set the sq.ftto 4.5, or whatever you have this parameter set to.

Two other parameters to be aware of are:

DIM'MIN'QTY=3  (the minimum dimensional quantity)

DIM'HALF=I      (force rounding to 1/2 unit, either .5 or 0)

These two parameters affect ALL dimensional items.

Below are some exmples:

 Original size                 ½ size dimension is:                         compute to bill at
24 x 36 = 6 sq. ft.         12 x 18            (3 sq. ft.)                      3 sq. ft.*

30 x 42 = 9 sq. ft.         15 x 21            (3 sq. ft.)
                      4.5 sq. ft.

18 x 24 = 3 sq. ft.         9 x 12             (1 sq. ft)                       3 sq. ft *

22 x 34 = 6 sq. ft          11 x17             (2 sq. ft.)
                      3 sq. ft.*

36 x 48 = 12 sq. ft        18x 24             (3 sq. ft.)
                      6 sq. ft.

34 x 44 = 11 sq. ft.       17 x 22            (3 sq. ft.)                      5.5 sq. ft.

* = minimum  based on parameter:  DIM’MIN’QTY
