Color Schemes

Software maintenance task # 28." Color Schemes".

Caveat:
If your Profits Plus server is Unix you will not be able to control the colors but you will be able to control the video attributes. If you use the STEP terminal emulator on a PC you should know that it has its own color scheme settings and does not recognize the Profits Plus colors schemes.   Only Windows servers will be able to set both colors and video codes.

But even with Unix and STEP you will still be able to set Normal, Warning and Alert text with different video attributes (reverse, hige intensity, etc) so they will stand out clearly.

How to change colors:
The Job Tracking colors are controlled in Software Maintenance task 28. "Color Schemes".
I know the screen will look really busy and complicated but there are only 8 fields that you can edit on the screen, so it isn't as bad as it looks.

The cursor will first be in field 1. "Job name:"  This is the terminal number of your monitor.  Normally it always default to the current monitor, but you can change it to edit color schemes for any terminal.   For instance, once you have set up JOB075 with the desired color schemes you can make JOB080 behave the same way by entering JOB080 in field 1. "Job name:"  and JOB075 in field 2 "Act like:".

To make things a little easier we have included several "preset" color schemes to choose from.  Move the cursor to field 2 "Act like:" and press TAB to choose preset colors schemes from a list.  If you want all termainals to act the same then make all terminals "act like" GLOBAL and then you'll only have to change the GLOBAL color scheme to affect all terminals at once.

The remaining fields are for defining normal, warning, and alert colors and codes for the current terminal or color scheme.

A color is defined by 2 properties; foreground color (0-15) and video codes (H,L R,U B).  The video codes are listed at the bottom of the screen.  The colors are listed in the windows "Background choices" and "Foreground choices".

Difference between "Warning" and "Alert":
All programs will obey the "Normal" color scheme settings, but very few programs are currently programmed to use the Warning and Alert settings.
Several of the Job Tracking tasks use color schemes when you press TAB at the order # field to see a list of job tracking orders and deliveries.   Jobs that are late are displayed in the "Alert" color.  Jobs that are due within 3 hours from now are displayed in the "Warning" color.  All other jobs are displayed in the "Normal" color.
