Create a Campaign in Mailchimp

Sending out a regular e-mail in Mailchimp

  • Login to Mailchimp using the MV username and password –  https://trello.com/c/GK4Pl5Mx/9-mailchimp
  • On the home page, click Create Campaign in the upper right-hand corner
  • You will be asked the type of campaign you would like to send
    • Regular campaign – this is for regularly scheduled e-mails
    • Plain-text campaign – this is for when you want to send out a quick e-mail alert
    • A/B testing campaign – If you would like to send out separate e-mails to see the response of clients, you can use A/B testing
    • RSS campaign – this is for when you want to send content from an RSS feed to a list
  • Select  regular campaign
  • You will then be asked what list of subscribers to send it to
    • Here, you can also send to a saved segment previously created, or create a new segment.
    • Once you selected the list you want, click next at the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
  • The next page will ask for the following campaign info
    • Name of your campaign
    • E-mail Subject
    • From name
    • From E-mail Address
    • Personalize the “To” field
      • Click this box
      • Add *|FNAME|* for first name
    • You can also track various metrics of the e-mail by clicking different boxes
  • The next page will ask you to select a template e-mail
    • You can either create your own, use a theme, or use a saved template
  • Once in the template you can use various functions to edit the e-mail to your liking using the following items:
    • Content – use blocks to add various types of content
    • Design – Here you can edit the font and other formatting of the e-mail
    • Comments – send a test e-mail to other and their comments will appear in this section
    • Click next when ready to move on
  • The final page allows you to make any final edits to what you have previously done
    • In the top right hand corner, clicking the drop down menu will allow you to preview the e-mail, send a test e-mail and other tasks.
      • Send a test e-mail to the team for final review!
    • Once everything has been reviewed and is ready, you can either schedule a time for the e-mail to go out, or send it immediately
