Hello,

The hosted server setup of your Profits Plus system has been completed and is ready for you to use.

Overview ... Two basic steps for you to be operational:
1) Download the small print client to your PC workstation
2) Setup a desktop shortcut RDP connection

You can do those before your local tech installs the printers on your PC (if not done already) but please don't try printing until they have completed that physical local install as noted below.


Now for the details of those two steps:

First initial step that needs to be done on the PC workstation(s) you want to use is to install a small print client piece of software. This will handle passing the print files from the hosted server to you local PC for printing.

Enter the following in your PC browser address/search bar: "TSPRINT client download" and click on the result for terminal works remote printing download or directly enter:

      https://www.terminalworks.com/remote-desktop-printing/downloads

Then click on the free "Client Download".  You DO NOT need to purchase the server download or anything.


Extract & open the zip file and follow the "Next" prompts to complete the installation.  It's very quick & simple and does not require any particular settings or actions. This should be done BEFORE you connect to the hosted system as a user and can be done even if they have not installed the printer cards & dot matrix printers on your PC yet.  If you do this while already connected to the hosted server you will need to logoff & reconnect after installation and before printing.



Second step for connecting to the hosted server as a user to run Profits Plus you'll need to do a one-time setup of a desktop shortcut on your workstation for the RDP connection.
For Windows 8 & 10:
  - Enter "remote desktop" into the windows search box at the bottom of
    your windows desktop.
  - Click on "Remote desktop connection" which should appear in the "best
    match" box at the top of the list.
  - Enter:  mvsalliancehosting.com  in the "Computer:" box
  - Click on "Show options" to open the full RDP box
  - Enter the user name we have provided you in the "User name:" box
  - Click on the "Save As" button
  - Change the location to "Desktop"  (rather than documents, etc)
  - Set the file name to: Profits Plus Hosted  (or other as you desire)
  - Click on "Save"
  - Close the Remote Desktop Connection window
  - Double click on the new desktop icon for Profits Plus
  - You should get a login box on the mvsalliancehosting.com server
    showing your login name and asking for a password
  - Enter the preassigned password we have provided and press enter.

That should log you in and automatically open up the Profits Plus system with the same main module list (menu) that you were used to on the in-house system. 
To backout / exit the system it's similar to the old system ... you just backup to the main module list and then do a CTRL-C followed by the ENTER key which should exit the Profits Plus menu and automatically close the remote desktop window and log you off the hosted server; returning you to your normal local desktop. (so no manual "exit" to logoff like before) If your hosted login opens multiple Profits Plus windows you should CTRL-C & ENTER on each of them to logoff the server. You can leave your workstation at the main module list and simply close the remote desktop/Profits Plus window using the normal Windows "X" at the top of the box if you want but please be sure to backout to the main menu first before closing the window.



All your existing data will be there and everything should function the same as before with only a few minor differences.

If you "PRE"view reports or edit tables & parameter files these functions will now use WordPad instead of the VUE & text displays used on the old server.  ** We do NOT recommend printing from Wordpad for regular reports, etc because it will modify the output. Continue to use the "PRINT" keyword function at the prompt AFTER CLOSING WordPad to then print the report that was previewed. ** You can cut & paste or print from WordPad as desired ... just not recommended as a replacement for normal spooled printing.

The first time you send a printout to each of the printers you will get a pop-up box asking you to select the local printer on your PC that should be associated with the printer you selected from Profits Plus on the Hosted server. When you do this it will record that in the print client on your workstation so it won't have to ask from then on when you select that same printer in Profits Plus.
** Please make sure the printers have been installed & tested on your workstation for local printing BEFORE you do this from the hosted server.**

If you select the wrong printer during the pop-up's, or do it before the printers are added locally, or you have a change in printers later ... the associations can easily be reset but we'll only go into that if/as needed.

So please do these steps and let us know when you've successfully completed them or of course if you have any questions or problems along the way.
