New Windows installation

Send the customer an email (use this for an example) telling them what they need to do to set up their server and firewall so you can connect to their system.   When you know you can connect to their system you can continue with the instructions below.

Login as Administrator (or at least as a user with administrator privileges)

Decide which drive and directory to use for their MVS_ROOT environment variable. normally C:\u\mvs

Add the system environment variables for MVS_ROOT and MVS_PLATFORM.

Add the user environment variable for JOBNUMBER as 0.

Create a system preload for Windows and install it in their %MVS_ROOT% folder.

Delete the existing "%MVS_ROOT%\win32\startup\Shortcut to ProfitsPlus.bat" and create a new one.  Right click on the new shortcut and choose Properties.  Choose the Font tab and set Font: to Lucida Console and set  size to 20.  Choose the Layout tab and set the Height to 25.

Drag a copy of the shortcut to the desktop and rename it to "Profits Plus".

Open %MVS_ROOT%\win32\env\setup_env.bat in wordpad.exe and change the values for the MVS_DRIVE and MVS_ROOT_ND environment variables if they are different than the current values.

In Windows Explorer go to the  %MVS_ROOT%\win32\bin folder and verify the COMPIL file is spelled in uppercase letters. The korn shell will need it in uppercase.  Rename it if is in lowercase.

Open %MVS_ROOT%\dsk0\007006\menu01.ctl in wordpad.exe.  Change the Business Name and applications to suit the new customer.

Then save the above menu01.ctl file as menu02.ctl, menu03.ctl, .. through menu10.ctl.  But you'll have to enclose the filename in quotes to prevent Windows from adding a .txt extension.

Go into Profits Plus S/M task 32/26. Setup company parameters and change the company name to match the customer's name. Change as much information as you know.

Go to S/M task 27. Init file/device assignments and set all Permanent files in ALL companies to device DSK00. 

Go to S/M task 11. Memo device assignments and choose subtask 5 to erase ALL memo records.

Go to S/M task 32/22/1 S/M - General and set parameters INI'DAY'DEFAULT'PRINTER=SCREEN  and INI'NIGHT'PRINTER=TRASH

Go to S/M task 19. Terminal Defaults and use subtask 5 to erase ALL records.  Use subtask 6 to sort.  Use subtask 7 to expand the file to 7000 records.
