There are 2 ways to change a printer model (SCO interface). scoadmin printer manager or scoadmin HP Network Printer Manager
- You have to know how the printer is connected before you can change it's model.
- Do an lpstat -v
- if the printer is connected to a digi-board port (like /dev/ttyb14) then it is maintained by the scoadmin printer manager. Only printers connected to /dev/null will be maintained by HP Network Printer Manager.
- You'll need the IP address of the printer. If it isn't already in the /etc/hosts file then add it now.
- At the unix prompt (as root) enter scoadmin
- Printers-->HP Network Printer Manager
- You have to delete then add the printer again.
- choose 8) Remove printer from spooler
- enter the printer name and press enter
- choose 6) Add printer to spooler
- Enter network peripheral name: enter IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
- Enter model Script name: enter * to display a list
- Enter HPLaserJet exactly as spelled (case matters)
- Enter Spooler Class: press enter for N
- Default? Press enter for N
- OK? Press enter for Y
Printer manager
Go into normal scoadmin printer manager and set Banners=0
- tab to get to the printer list
- navigate to the printer and press tab to get to the top ring menu:
- Settings-->Advanced-->Banners
- Number of banner pages: 0
- OK
- you are done
