Price Based on a Minimum Item Quantity

The scenario related to this document is:  the item is 500-1 FAX COPIES and the minimum charge is $10.00 for the first 100 copies, then $.25 for each additional copy. 

 

Item Minimums are set up as follows, go to:

  • Inventory Control (Module 5)
    • Discount Table Master (Task 22)
      • Enter New Table Record (Sub-task 1)

 

Below is how a table it set up for the scenario described at the beginning:

01. Table name :           QM -the 2nd character can be any letter-capital or lower case, or number                        

02. Table descr:            User-defined               

03. Break on D/Q:        Q                           

04. Amount type:          $ (% L $)                   

05. Fixed / Cume:         C                          

06. Quantity    :                                       

07.      Price  :               10.00                      

08. Quantity    :                                      

09.      Price  :               00.00                      

10. Quantity    :            101                                          

11.      Price  :               00.25     

 

Once the table has been created, go to the item in the Item Master (Task 17 in Inventory module).  

  1. Be sure the item decimal places on the item (found by going to field 7 - AVG COST – and pressing F2) and the discount table (found on field 7 – Price – by pressing F1) are the same.
  2. On field 30 – Quan Table – place the second character from the table name…in the example, it will be MMMMMMMMM

 

Example 1:  Customer gets one copy…the charge is $10.00

                       

Example 2:  Customer gets two copies….the charge is $10.00 (or $5.00 each)

The first of the item                   1 @ $10.00     =          $10.00

                        The next item:                           1 @ $00.00     =          $00.00

                                                                        2                                  $10.00   or $5.00 each

 

Example 3:  Customer gets fifty copies….the charge is $10.00 (or $1.00 each)

The first of the item                   1  @ $10.00    =          $10.00

                        The next 49 items:                     49@ $00.00    =          $00.00

                                                                        50                                $10.00   or $0.20 each

 

Example 4:  Customer gets 120 copies….the charge is $15.00

The first of the item                   1  @ $10.00    =          $10.00

                        The next 99 items:                     99@ $00.00    =          $00.00

                        The next 20 items                     20@ $00.25    =          $  5.00

                                                                       125                               $15.00
