Maxene Reporter Enterprise:

The Enterprise release of Maxene Reporter standardizes on using Microsoft IIS as the default web server.  The previously used embedded webserver is no longer supported and used.  This reduces the installation footprint of the software and increases the reliability.

Future releases under the Enterprise version will include improved user interface and functionality.

Also continued in the Enterprise version is the ability to execute "Update" and "Insert" SQL statements so that the software can now be used for Application to Application integration using the existing report framework. 

  For example:  You can extract information from one system/database, process it in an MS Excel spreadsheet and then update another database or system.  Status information can then be reported back to key personnel in the form of a report containing the data.

Hosted Application Support:

         Starting with release 3.2.001, Maxene Reporter supports hosted application environments by providing for usergroups with specific access to author reports and access to specific DSNs on the server.  This enables application providers maintain functional separation between users and groups.  Refer to documentation for more details.

   Release 4.1.001 (Enterprise - S) takes hosted support further with the concept of "companies".  Companies define stand-alone partitions of complete application datasets including users, groups, templates, DSNs, reports, and jobs.  This enables integration with hosted application in shared server environments.

API Services:  Starting with release 1.1.114 the Maxene Reporter package includes API services. 

               Functions in Maxene Reporter can be invoked using a standard HTTP call.  With API services, a developer can easily encapsulate and access Maxene Reporter functionality in third party applications and without using the Maxene Reporter user interface.

               API services will be incrementally enhanced as new releases are introduced.

Known problems:  

In some installations of Windows 2000, “Now” type jobs are reported as created 

successfully, but fail due to permissions problems.  This is due to a documented 

problem with MS-Office applications.  IR: 159, 237

Workaround Solution: 

1. Reference the time on the server where Maxene Reporter resides.

2. Create jobs using the “Once" option and schedule the job 3 minutes 

   into the future just prior to submission.

Known problems:  

In some installations of Windows 2000, an application upgrade to version 1.1.107 

and onwards may treat an existing application Base Execution and Authoring License 

type key as a Base Runtime only License type key.

Workaround Solution: 

1. Make an exact backup of existing Base License key.

2. Delete the base license key from the application.

3. Add the same base license Key into the application.

Known problems:

If this release of Maxene Reporter is installed as an upgrade to a previous release

of the product, and then subsequently uninstalled, the user will get an error saying 

that there was a problem unregistering "mrreportgen.dll". IR: 2230

Workaround Solution:

This is a benign problem and does not harm the system or the configuration.  No 

action is necessary.
