Sharing a PC for Training Purposes

An easy program can be installed and used when one person needs to show/train another person but you would like to have both parties use/view the same screen….where one or both of the participants can control the mouse and keyboard.  The program is called: CrossLoop   Go to:  www.crossloop.com

Starting CrossLoop:

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click on:  DOWNLOAD.  The very next screen asks which version you would like to buy, however there is a free version available.   At the very bottom of the screen, it reads:Skip CrossLoop Pro – Take me to the free version of CrossLoop.  It is for my personal use and I understand it will be supported by advertising.   Click on these words.

The next screen prompts what your usage of CrossLoop will be (response doesn’t affect the setup), select one:  Remote support, Collaboration, or Other.

You will then be asked to Run / Save / Cancel the file download.  We suggest:  Run (to run the software). Then Run again when the next box/prompt appears.

Then follow the prompts; select both desktop and launch icons.  The final box asks if you would like to “Launch” CrossLoop.  If you check the “Launch”, the CrossLoop will immediately start, if you do not check the “Launch” then you can access it later by selecting the icon on your desktop.

The person who will be accessing/sharing the computer screen must also follow these steps….you both must have CrossLoop setup and ready to use.

Registering and Using CrossLoop:

When you first use CrossLoop you will be required to enter your information….e-mail, name, password.   Once you are done, a small screen appears with your first name and first initial of your last name, along with a 12 digit code….make note of this code as you will need to give it to the person you want to share your computer screen/desktop with.

Once both of you and the person sharing the computer screen have CrossLoop up, you will both have a box with two tabs:  Access and Share.   The person who will have their computer screen used by both parties uses the “Share” tab.   The person who will see the computer screen of the other person will use the “Access” tab.  The person who is doing the sharing (“Share”) gives the ‘access code’ to the other party (“Access”).  You will get a message about accepting the invitation.  Answer yes and after a few moments both parties will see the computer screen of the ‘Share’ person.

Note: there is an option to    Buy Now,   you can ignore this unless you want, at some point, to have multiple people ‘share’ a computer screen.   But one-on-one, you don’t have to purchase the product.

Full Control or Not:

The person who is doing the sharing (“Share”) has the option to allow ‘View Only’.  By clicking this option, the other person (“Access”) will see your computer screen and all of the movements you make, but they will have no control….just viewing capabilities.   If you don’t click the ‘View Only’ option, then both parties can use the mouse and keyboard to navigate the shared computer screen.

Disconnect:

When you are done with your session, press the Disconnect tab.
