Installation notes

As of 03/06/2019  version 2.00.023 of MVSWEB has a prerequisite before a new installation or update:

Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable  32-bit.  Only use 2010, later versions won't work.  Installation instructions.

On 3/17/2017 Ankit and Neil installed MVSWEB version .022 on the Hosted Windows 10 development machine.

These are notes from that installation.

Decide where the MVSWEB installation folder should be.   If documents will be ftp'd to this machine then you need to put MVSWEB inside the ftproot folder.  This is because MVSWEB hard codes the path to the DocumentImages folder to be a subfolder to the MVSWEB installation folder.

Install a MySQL ODBC 32-bit connector (the same one we user for Maxene Reporter) in the "System DSN" tab of Administrative Tools/ODBC Data Sources (32-bit).  Point it to the Profits Plus installation.  See "Create a DSN for ODBC so Windows applications can access the database" .

  • Install the app.  MVSWEB_2_00_022.exe.  During installation the Configuration screen pops up.

DSN Details section

  • Name:          ProfitsPlus_jre
  • Username: mvuser_mr
  • Password:  mvuser_mr1

Misclleneous [sic] section.

  • Ecomm Server: enter the name or ip address of the Profits Plus server machine.
    • We used mvsalliancehosting.com

We entered my email address for all email prompts.

  • Use the window key + R to bring up the run prompt.  Enter inetmgr to bring up the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  • Right click on the Default Web Site folder in IIS  and choose "add application" for MVSWEB.

  • Configure the Advance setting of the App Pool and enable 32 bit application
  • Click on the ASP icon and set "Enable Parent Paths" (in behavior section) and "Send Errors to Browser" (in Debugging Properties section) to True
  • Make sure that "Show friendly HTTP error messages" is unchecked in the Advance tab of Internet Options
  • Classic .NET App Pool
  • Give full control permissions for user mvsoft  to the MVSWEB root folder.  And any other user that might do maintenance to the MVSWEB app.
  • Use file explorer to add "DocumentImages/Invoices/" subfolders under the MVSWEB root folder (Virtual Directory folder name).

You can log into MVSWEB with these credentials:
username: administrator
password: admin
