Round Dimensional Items

There are parameters in the Order Processing parameter file that control to rounding of dimensional items. These parameters can be set to make the system round dimensional items several different ways.

To see the parameters, go to:

·        Order Processing (Module 6)

o       System Management Functions (Task 32)

§         Modify Parameter Files (Sub-task 22)

·        O/E – General (Option 1)

Look for the section titled: Dimensional item options

General Options

SKIP'DIM'TYPES=ODFR   Enter the dimensional types that will not be modified in the Warehouse quantities.  Find the dimensional types in:  Inventory (module 5); System Management Functions (task 32); Modify Application Tables (sub-task 17; Dimensional Types (option 18)

DIM'DEFAULT=Y or N       Y(es)=Dimensional features (height, width, etc) default to features from the previous line in Order Processing, N(o)= No default, the dimensional fields will not appear on the next line in OE after a dimensional item is entered.

DIM'ORDER=RR                In which order should the system prompt for dimensional features during order entry.   For each digit: N=normal R=reversed

·        1st digit = Sets-Copies / Originals  (Normal)

·        2nd digit = Width / Height  (Normal)

DIM'PRINT'SQFT=Y           Should the system print the "sq ft" total on order documents after the user enters the dimensional detail (Y/N)?  Typical response is Y(es).

Width/Height Dimension Calculations:

DIM'FRACT=U                    How to round DIMENSIONAL ITEM unit fractions (U/N).  U=up, which is standard or N= for the nearest whole number.

DIM'MIN'DEC=0                 Minimum internal decimal accuracy.  This is for situations where unit sizes need to be calculated with more accuracy than what is desirable for the final total.  For example, should you calculate unit size with 1 or 2 decimals, then extend and round the extended total to whole units?

DIM'MIN'QTY=0                 Minimum unit size.  For example: 2 square feet minimum for ALL dimensional items.   0 is normal default

DIM'HALF=N                       Force rounding to 1/2 unit (either .5 or 0).  Choices are N, I or T

·        N=No forcing of half square foot (standard)

·        I=Round to the nearest 1/2 square foot for individual print

·        T=Round to the nearest 1/2 square foot on total square feet

DIM'1ST=                              Adjust the first dimension PRIOR to extension.  For example:  to force 6" standard widths, enter '6'    Blank=means do not adjust (standard)

DIM'2ND=                            Adjust the second dimension (see DIM'1ST  for an explanation)
