Getting Started

Thank you for installing Maxene Reporter™!

Before you find out how to create and generate powerful spreadsheet based reports, here are some housekeeping and application notes that you will find useful.

Application Notes

Maxene Reporter™ is a multi-user application that is installed on Microsoft® Windows NT 4.0, 2000, or XP. All users interact with the application over a standard browser.

The Report Administration, Users and Groups, and Configure Maxene Reporter modules require use of Microsoft® Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or greater). The Job Administration module can be accessed over a reasonably current Internet browser.

Context Sensitive Help

Wherever appropriate, Maxene Reporter comes with context sensitive help. This means that in most cases you can click on a field and press the F1 key for help on that particular field.

Login Link

All users log onto Maxene Reporter™ using the following link:

http:// <server_name>/MaxeneReporter/login.asp

Where <server_name> is the network name of the server on which the application is installed.

It is recommended that the login link be emailed to all users and then that they add to their list of favorites or create appropriate links on their personal computers as required.

Administrator Password

Also, when Maxene Reporter is first installed, it contains one user account, "Administrator". The default password is "admin". This password should be changed immediately so as to prevent unauthorized access.

You can change the password by logging into the system as "Administrator" and using the "Users and Groups" module.

You can also add other user and group accounts as necessary.

Licensing

When Maxene Reporter™ is first installed it is the trial version of the application. You will need to add license keys to the system using the "Configure Maxene Reporter" module. Every installation must have at least one "Base" license key before it can become a fully licensed version. Additional "Add-On" keys can be added to the system to increase the number of users accessing it.

The trial version of Maxene Reporter™ allows at any given time one user in either of the "Report Administration", "Users and Groups", and "Configure Maxene Reporter" modules, and up to three concurrent users in the "Job Administration" modules.
